What Is Dixie Belle Paint?
If you are new to painting furniture you may be wondering what in the world is Dixie Belle Paint?
So to start Dixie Belle Paint is a company that produces chalk mineral paints and other paint products, more specifically geared toward furniture painting. But these paints can be used for so much more!
Features of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint:
- Easy to use, no prep work needed (in most cases)
- Great color selection
- Self leveling
- Dries quickly
- No odor
- Affordable
Why Use Dixie Belle Paint?
Now that you know what Dixie Belle Paint is, let’s talk about why it should be considered for your next furniture painting project.
The projects featured here use Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint, which is a chalk and mineral based paint product. It has a matte finish, quick dry time, and goes on smooth with self-leveling properties.
Also Chalk Mineral Paint is very friendly to the environment. It is non-toxic and very low odor and low VOCs. This means that you can safely use these paints inside your home and on furniture intended for pets and children!
Next, I bet you are wondering about the durability of such a paint. Well, believe me this paint is very durable despite all those good qualities and it gives great coverage. Two coats is sufficient for most projects, but it can vary.
Also, another feature is that it is water- based. It works seamlessly with all other paint products in the Dixie Belle Paint line. And, also with transfers, decoupages, glazes, waxes and more.
To ensure a long-lasting finish a topcoat or sealant is recommended for more high-traffic pieces. You can choose from waxes or polys or even Hemp Oil. Find out more about topcoats here in this link: Protect and Seal Painted Furniture
With Dixie Belle Paints there are so many options.
Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint Versus Silk Paint
As I mentioned above, the projects you’ll see in this post use Dixie Belle’s original Chalk Mineral Paint. There is another excellent product line by Dixie Belle, called Silk Paint.
The big difference between these two paints is that the Silk line is newer. It is a three-in-one or all-in-one paint product. This means that it contains three products in one – primer, paint and a topcoat.
Also it features a bit of an eggshell sheen so just a little less chalky or matte than the regular paint.
I’ll save Dixie Belle Silk Painted Furniture Projects and Information for a separate post which you can find in these links. So if you’d like to learn more about Silk and see more fun makeovers check out:
